TCNC's Board approved several changes to the NCCTP certification process for turfgrass professionals on Oct. 21. Among them:
- All applicants must document work experience for the past 12 months, but one year of TCNC membership is not required.
- At the time of certification, all candidates should be members. This allows interested candidates to apply for certification WITH their membership.
- A current pesticide license is required, however, violations will no longer necessitate documentation since not all violations are a consequence of the operator's actions.
- All NCCTPs will continue to be required to obtain 20 hours of pesticide credits for license renewal vs. the State's requirement of 10 hours.
- Exam dates will now be open and available in conjunction with all TCNC events.
- Enrollment fees will be waived for students enrolling to take the exam within 90 days of completing Short Course, or other approved extension programs. Only a $50 testing fee will apply if candidates take the exam within 6 months of course completion.
Don't hesitate to contact TCNC's office at (919) 380-9446 for more details on becomming an NCCTP. Also, don't forget: Short Course happens Feb. 22-26, 2010 in Raleigh!
